The School of Continuing Education at Red Deer College is currently inviting applications for Clinical Health Care Aide Instructor(s) in the Health Care Aide program. RDC’s Health Care Aide program prepares learners to be part of a health care team and provide a high level of front-line care to clients in need of assistance in a variety of different settings.
Red Deer College is licensed to deliver the 2019 Alberta Health Provincial Curriculum. This is a full-time credit program with nine courses which include blended learning (virtual real time classes) with a combination of virtual and in-person lab components, two clinical placements, and one preceptorship. This program prepares students to work as a Health Care Aide in acute care facilities, continuing care facilities, hospitals, as well as in the home setting.
A Health Care Aide assists individuals needing care in a variety of ways including: assisting with eating, dressing, washing and moving. This program consists of a variety of learning approaches including online readings, assignments and lessons, in-person labs with a certified instructor, and in-person clinical placements. This program follows the Government of Alberta approved Health Care Aide 2019 curriculum and successful graduates are eligible to write the provincial exam to be certified as Health Care Aides in Alberta.
